Why it's important to wear cute underwear

Even if you aren’t getting lucky, it’s important to wear cute underwear!

Why? I can sum it up in 4 words: It’s a confidence booster.

Even if nobody else is going to see what’s underneath your jeans, wear those cute lacy panties for yourself! It’s important to wear things that will make you feel good, and that goes beyond what you wear on the surface.

Often times we find ourselves wandering into stores like Soma Intimates and Victoria Secret and on online lingerie boutiques like AdoreMe. We’ll pick up a certain style and we immediately think about the occasions where it would be appropriate to wear such an under garment like the one in your hands. Sometimes we’ll set the panties back down, other times we’ll walk out of the store with them with a set date of when we can wear them. Regardless of your future plans with your undies, you’re perfectly happy with wearing your granny panties on days where you have nothing going on. Which is totally fine too, we aren’t undie shaming here!

Wearing cute underwear is a reminder to yourself that you are worth the extra effort. Not everything you do has to be for other people; get dressed up to look good for yourself, paint your nails to show you take pride in your hands, wear that black thong you’ve been saving for a special night that hasn’t happened yet. You know which thong I’m talking about…the one all the way in the back of your underwear drawer that you haven’t worn since you got it. Now is the time to pull it out and wear it under your sweatpants. It’s a nice little surprise every time you go to the bathroom and you aren’t afraid about people seeing your underwear. You want them to see it! Be proud of every piece of your outfit. You did spend money on it, you know. And if it wasn’t directly you, somebody spent money on it!

My favorite store to buy underwear from is Victoria Secret, go figure. That 5 for $27 (I remember when it was 5 for $25…still gets me upset that they keep increasing the price every year!) gets me every time. So, as I’m sure you’ve already guessed it, the majority of my underwear comes from VS Pink.

If you’re saying to yourself “if all of your underwear comes from Pink, then of course you want people to see it.”  Don’t be so quick to judge. I have some old school Pink prints that aren’t worth showing and my old Calvin Klein ones are even worse, trust me. Those aren’t even worthy of a picture.

It’s important to remember to stay comfortable in your underwear…also it’s important to be comfortable in the underwear you’re in. Let me explain.

Underwear is about comfort point blank. No matter what style you buy, at the end of the day it’s all about protecting your goodies. However, for some people that’s where the underwear shopping stops. If it does the job, then that’s good enough. But, when you buy underwear that are bright colors with whacky prints it’s like a party in your pants! Nobody (unless you got lucky) will see them besides you, go crazy with your underoos!

But this is all just surface material.

Being comfortable in your underwear means that you have the self confidence to wear whatever style you want. It took a long time for me to wear a thong, or even a thick band Calvin Klein underwear because I was always under the impression that you have to have a certain body type in order to wear them.

No!

That is never the case. Just because all the Instagram models are wearing the matching Calvin Klein underwear with their boyfriends all have flat stomachs, 6 packs, and a thigh gap doesn’t mean you have to too. It’s a huge misconception that drives thousands of young girls to set unrealistic body standards for themselves and it’s probably one of the saddest things ever. Everyone is beautiful, we just need to work together to get past these social norms.

Long story short, be comfortable with your body. Wear whatever underwear you want. Small things like this are a daily reminder that you are beautiful and that you are worth sunny days.

Wearing cute underwear has greatly impacted my self confidence, and it’s such a small thing to do that takes absolutely no effort or time (since we all have to wear underwear anyway…unless you go commando) maybe a little bit of money, but you aren’t buying new underwear every week- barely every month! It’s worth the cost.

Self hate is never the way to go, but when you love yourself and treat yourself, you begin to feel a difference in your soul, and that’s a change that we should all welcome gratefully.
